Pace Center for Girls (Pace), a nationally-recognized model that provides education, counseling, training and advocacy for girls and young women, proudly announces the appointment of Angela Kennedy as Executive Director of Pace Citrus.

“Angela is a dynamic, collaborative leader who has the vision and experience to advance our mission in Citrus County,” said Mary Marx, Pace President and CEO. “I look forward to working alongside Angela as she engages the Citrus community in Pace’s work and reaches more girls along the West Central coast of Florida.”

With over two decades of academic leadership and social service experience, Kennedy has worked extensively on access to education and services for underserved communities through various roles at the Hernando County School District. She has a proven record of community impact and most recently served as the Director of Federal Programs for the Hernando County School District.

“It’s an honor to lead Pace Citrus and empower this community’s next generation of girls and young women,” said Angela Kennedy, Executive Director at Pace Citrus. “When we focus on supporting girls, they gain the power to achieve success in all areas of their lives, leading to positive outcomes for themselves, their families and our Citrus community.”

Pace Citrus, located in Lecanto, Fl, was founded in 2018 and annually serves over 100 girls ages 11–17. The Pace model aims to ensure that things like lack of awareness, transportation and finances do not become a barrier to providing the holistic academic and social services that girls need.

“For many girls in Citrus County, coming to Pace is one of their first opportunities to have their mental and emotional health needs met,” said Carole Savage, former Executive Director of Pace Citrus. “As I focus on our program operations in Marion County, I look forward to seeing Angela continue to expand our model in Citrus County and reach more girls.”

Kennedy was recognized as Hernando County Teacher of the Year (2010-2011), Weeki Wachee High School Teacher of the Year (2010-2011), Central High School Teacher of the Year (2006-2007) and Brooksville Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year (2005).

Kennedy holds a bachelor’s in secondary English education and master’s in education leadership from Saint Leo University and is certified by the Florida Department of Education in Educational Leadership, English for Speakers of Other Languages (grades K-12) and English (grades 6-12).
