I am proud to say I will graduate as the valedictorian of my high school class, and I am headed to Howard University with a scholarship from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Gates Scholarship. But if it wasn’t for my parents who supported my decision to enroll in a mental health program at Pace Center for Girls, I might be facing a different future.
