At Pace Center for Girls, learning continues year-round, providing girls with consistent academic support, enrichment, and personal development. The extended school year allows for deeper engagement with curriculum and creates space for innovative, experiential learning opportunities that meet girls’ diverse needs and learning styles. Summer also provides a vital opportunity for credit recovery, enabling girls to stay on track toward high school graduation and long-term academic success.
This summer, Lexi Falance, a social studies teacher at Pace Broward, launched an immersive global experience that had girls literally taking flight—without ever leaving the classroom.
“Since Pace is a year-round school, I really wanted to give the girls something exciting to look forward to over the summer,” said Lexi. “Knowing how much they love food and hands-on learning, I decided to create a program that brought both together. From there, the idea for AirPACE was born.”
With support from the Pace Broward team—Lexi transformed her classroom into an airplane ready for takeoff. Girls received boarding passes, went through a mock TSA check-in, and traveled the globe through Nearpod VR and cultural immersion activities.

Over several weeks, students studied geography, completed country-specific projects, and learned through hands-on exploration. Their efforts culminated in the “Around the World Festival,” a full cultural showcase and taste experience that brought continents to life. Each table in the school cafeteria represented a country or region, offering interactive activities and authentic cuisine—from Venezuelan nucita and Puerto Rican treats to Japanese edamame snack packs and Egyptian hieroglyphics.
The Pace Experience
Pace serves middle- and high-school-aged girls who may have faced academic, social, or emotional challenges—but who are full of promise. At Pace, girls receive individualized academic instruction, counseling, and life skills training in a safe, supportive environment that meets them where they are and helps them reach their full potential.
Programs like AirPACE reflect the innovative, girl-centered approach that sets Pace apart. Whether it’s July or January, learning at Pace is active, inclusive, and joyful. Summer isn’t a break from school—it’s a chance to deepen learning, explore new interests, and build confidence in ways that are as fun as they are meaningful.
