{"id":302,"date":"2022-04-28T21:05:41","date_gmt":"2022-04-28T21:05:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pacecenter.org\/blog\/?p=302"},"modified":"2022-04-29T14:48:25","modified_gmt":"2022-04-29T14:48:25","slug":"denim-day-wearing-jeans-with-a-purpose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pacecenter.org\/stories\/denim-day-wearing-jeans-with-a-purpose","title":{"rendered":"Denim Day: Wearing Jeans with a Purpose"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Pace joins communities across the country in recognizing Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.denimdayinfo.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Denim Day<\/a>, April 27, 2022, the longest running sexual violence prevention and education campaign in history, McKenzie Marsch, Special Projects Manager at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacecenter.org\/locations\/palm-beach\">Pace Palm Beach<\/a>, participated in a panel discussion hosted by Palm Beach County Victim Services.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Denim Day asks community members, elected officials, and businesses to wear denim to combat victim blaming and educate others about sexual violence. McKenzie participated in the panel discussion on behalf of Palm Beach County\u2019s Girls Coordinating Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pacecenter.org\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Mckenzie-1024x531.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-303\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cRepresenting the Girls Coordinating Council of Palm Beach County, I had the opportunity to share why we should decrease discomfort related to discussing sexual assault and consent and the importance of leading with the \u2018start by believing\u2019 mindset,\u201d shared McKenzie.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2017, Girls Coordinating Councils (GCC) have been formed, like the one in Palm Beach, in various counties throughout Florida and Georgia.
