{"id":1755,"date":"2021-02-03T15:14:00","date_gmt":"2021-02-03T15:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pacecenter.org\/stories\/?p=1755"},"modified":"2025-01-21T15:17:37","modified_gmt":"2025-01-21T15:17:37","slug":"pace-alachua-receives-mcdonalds-golden-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pacecenter.org\/stories\/pace-alachua-receives-mcdonalds-golden-grant","title":{"rendered":"Pace Alachua Receives McDonald&#8217;s Golden Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>GAINESVILLE, Fla. &#8211; Several schools and community organizations in northern Florida and southern Georgia, including one in Gainesville, have been awarded a McDonald&#8217;s Golden Grant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McDonald&#8217;s said that the following groups won:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$5,000: Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter, Jacksonville<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$5,000: PACE Center for Girls, Gainesville<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$2,500: Florida Statue University School Track Team, Tallahassee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$2,500: Folkston Elementary STEM Bins, Folkston, Georgia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is said to be the first time ever that the North Florida, Southern Georgia McDonald\u2019s owners and operators have awarded $15,000 in Golden Grants to four schools and community organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The McDonald&#8217;s Golden Grants program was reportedly created to celebrate educators and programs dedicated to enriching the lives of the youth. The funds can be used for COVID-19 relief efforts, technology support, arts and crafts programs, community service outreach, tutoring, mentorship, and recreational activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are so honored to give back to these amazing, impactful teachers and organizations. They are most appreciated and we are excited to help them in their efforts of making a difference in their students\u2019 lives,&#8221; says Calvin Paris, McDonald\u2019s franchisee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The application period for the 2021- 2022 grants will begin in October.
