By age 15, Bella hadn’t finished fifth grade. But at Pace Center for Girls, she’s catching up — and learning she counts.

"In high school, you face a lot of problems. Pace, for me, was a place to express my feelings and talk more."

Sakiyah will attend Georgia Southern University in the fall and is the first person in her family to graduate high school and attend a four-year college.

“Because of Pace Day at the Capitol and the female legislators I met, I feel like I am not alone and capable of sharing my story to make a difference for future generations,” shared Jossmarie,16, a sophomore at Pace Jacksonville.  

We invite you to meet 14-year-old Lyra and hear her inspiring story. Lyra's journey hasn't been easy. She's wise beyond her years, gifted, and highly intelligent — so much so that she struggled to make connections with students her own age. Even with some adults.
