Spirit Circles Spirit Circles is designed to help at risk girls develop character, core values and a spiritual anchor. Our Spirit Circles program encourages the girls to move beyond their doubts and rebellion and become more deeply connected to ethical principles for day to day living and decision making. Girls served by PACE are far more spiritually hungry than the general population and will ask many more questions when in crisis than when life is going well. Research indicates being spiritually anchored reduces substance abuse, depression, suicide, and promiscuity and young people are more likely to finish school and stay out of trouble with the law. Staff is often unsure how to deal with the issue of spiritual development. To address this we designed our Spirit Singers training, which proved to be both an opportunity to teach staff how to help girls explore the body, mind, spirit connection and at the same time teach staff about creating and preserving balance in their own lives. Spirit Singers training is offered to all staff to help them explore their needs and develop ways to achieve a balance between their lives and those of the girls, increasing their ability to help and nuture our young women.
